Emergent Design Studio Add Modernistic Solutions of Glass and Metal at Lightwell House

This light and contemporary interior design of Emergent Design Studio is situated in the historical shell of Victorian Lion House located in Fulham, London, UK. Combining the two epochs in an elegant and unostentatious way is never easy, but the architect’s succeeded by preserving the gorgeous brick constructs and facade and adding modernistic solutions of glass and metal.

The unusual shape of the housing project – long and narrow is enhanced by some clever architectural quirks including; light wells, glass floors, and cantilevered staircases, which provide an abundance of natural light and open spaces across levels, thus creating a flexible and welcoming family home environment.

The furnishing of the spaces is elegant, minimalistic and modern – using milder colors (late on a crisp white surface) and natural material palate the premises evoke calm and serene sensation. Some hints of bolder colors – yellow, orange or vital green add the charming twist in the open spaces of this contemporary composition.

The elegance of the smooth wooden floors, the gray hues of the modernistic furniture and appliances in the kitchen and the other social living zones are both classic and contemporary. The open spaces and the abundance of light create the tranquility of this home and together it the art pieces and the designers’ furniture compose a characteristic and classy interior decor.  Photography by NAARO
